The best part about it is that most of the attractions are scattered around one park, Balboa Park, so you won’t have to travel far.  Even better yet is that with a San Diego Go Card, you can see the city without hurting your wallet!

Nature Lover

Plants, animals, the open skies and the wonderful sun – you love it all! San Diego is home to one of the best zoos in the country. Located in Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo is a great place to spend time with the whole family and to check out some amazing wild life. You can even get a “Backstage Pass” to get a closer look at, and even touch, some of the animals. They also have a Children’s Zoo area for the little ones. No doubt, a trip to the San Diego Zoo will be an unforgettable experience.

If you enjoy having a peaceful stroll on a nice day, then why not visit some of San Diego’s famous gardens? Take a walk through Spain in the Alcazar Garden modeled after the Alcazar Castle in Seville, Spain. Experience a little piece of the outback in San Diego’s Australian garden. Visit one of the most photographed scenes in Balboa Park, the Botanical Garden, and become speechless at its beauty. You can also visit the Rose Garden, Zoro Garden, Japanese Friendship Garden and much more!

Fun Seekers

If you are someone looking for a lot of fun, you should definitely visit one of San Diego’s 33 beaches. You can “hang ten” riding on the waves that crash against the coast, go swimming, play a game of volleyball, build a sand castle with the kids or just sit out in the sun to get a great tan. Somewhere like Mission Beach, centrally located in San Diego, has a boardwalk where you can ride bikes, grab a hotdog, sit down at a nice restaurant and go shopping in some of the seaside stores.

San Diego even has 3 designated dog beaches where you can spend time with man’s best friend. Point Loma, Ocean Beach in San Diego is one of the best. People love it because it is beautiful and clean. You can take a walk on the pier and look out to watch dogs running free, ears flapping and all. Point Loma, Ocean Beach is a must for dog lovers.

There are about 40 museums in San Diego and with 14 of them being in Balboa Park, you will be sure to have plenty to explore. Try the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park. The building is beautiful and their exhibits are nicely done. Many people fall in love with this museum from the moment they walk in and see the giant pendulum swinging in the lobby.

Another Museum you might be interested in checking out is the Air & Space Museum also in Balboa Park. This museum has a huge collection of planes, artifacts and the real Apollo 9 spacecraft for all to see. Kids really enjoy this place, it is somewhere you can be entertained for hours and it is a fun, educational way to spend the afternoon.

Are you someone that is more into art? Then visit the San Diego Museum of Art, again, in Balboa Park. This art museum has a beautiful collection of classic and modern art from England, Spain and more. There are countless sculptures and paintings that will definitely catch your eye. Plus, on certain Tuesdays this museum is free of charge! So make sure you visit the San Diego Museum of Art.
