Although the running of SA Tourism’s Indaba Exhibitions for 2011- 2013 is now in the hands of Witch & Wizard Creative, exhibitors and visitors can rest assured that the team which successfully managed the event under the Kagiso Exhibitions banner for the past six years remains unchanged.

When the Kagiso group’s contract to manage the event ended after the 2010 Indaba, the Witch and Wizard Productions group and the management team of Kagiso Exhibitions formed Witch and Wizard Creative (Pty) Ltd and won the SA Tourism tender to manage Indaba, together with two international pavilions at World Travel Market (WTM) in London and ITB in Berlin, for the next three years.

Thus exhibitors can expect the high level of service, close communication, seamless operational management and logistics which have been a hallmark of the success of Indaba in the past will continue.

Planning has already commenced for Indaba 2011 which will again be held in Durban at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre, which has the contract to host Indaba for the next five years.

According to Zaida Enver, Chief Operating Officer of Witch & Wizard Creative, “All of our previous exhibitors have already been contacted and newcomers who have recently entered the tourism industry, shortly will be. The reception to the new company has been exceptionally positive, chiefly because of the continuity of the management team.”
“Winning the SA Tourism tender for Indaba is a huge feather in our cap as a newly formed, relatively small exhibitions company. But, we believe we were awarded the tender because of our past success and confidence in the continuity of the management team.

Indaba is SA Tourism’s biggest annual event showcasing all aspects of South African Tourism and, in fact, is the third largest such show in the world and we will continue to benchmark it against its international counterparts.”

“Given its importance and prominence, we are therefore highly aware of the responsibility on our shoulders to ensure that the success of Indaba continues unabated in the future; we have raised the bar and will continue to do so,” she adds.

“In addition, both South African international pavilions – one in the UK and one in Germany – are also crucially important for SA Tourism and South Africa as we showcase the country to the highly sophisticated international travel and tourism industry, and it is equally important that these pavilions follow the Indaba success formula. Indaba and the overseas exhibitions represent a unique opportunity for those involved in the country’s tourism industry to show their latest offerings and services.”

As a member of the Witch & Wizard Productions group, the new Indaba management team are in a position to offer exhibitors a wide range of complimentary services from other group companies such as audio visual production, public relations, set building, equipment hire, hiring of celebrities and entertainers and event management, all of which form part of the group’s existing services.

“In addition to the professional management of the Indaba event, exhibitors can now plug into a seamless range of ancillary services to ensure that their exhibit receives maximum attention from visitors” says Enver.

“With the strength of our base of Indaba, we believe that Witch & Wizard Creative is well positioned to grow exponentially in the future and we intend to actively pursue the management of other exhibitions,” she adds.

Previously over 2 300 exhibitors took part at Indaba and Enver believes that there is still room for further growth in exhibitor numbers as the country’s tourism industry continues to grow, especially on the back of the success of the recent Soccer World Cup.

SA Tourism’s Indaba, which has been recognised by twice winning World Travel Awards for best travel and tourism show in Africa in 2008 and 2009 under the current management team, is set to retain its pre-eminent position and expand its reach into the future.
